Default Brake issue's

Has anyone experience any braking problems?

Lately at times, when I brake on bumpy roads, I feel this rattle on the brake pads when I push down with my foot. Almost like this loose feeling. Also, I find that I have to really slow down the car before I can just brake.

Anyone have these similar issues?

I bought my A3 in Novemeber, so its a new 2007. Are the brakes just NOT worn in yet?. I dont think that explains the braking over bumpy roads and feeling the looseness and weird rattle under my foot when braking.

Brake glaze wears off in about 400 to 500 miles on the car, so this sounds like something worked its way loose. I would take it in to dealer and let them check it out.

Will everything be covered under warranty if somethings up with my brakes? Labor, all that stuff?

I didnt purchase any extended warranty or maintenance and what not.

But since I just bought it in Nov, a problem with the brakes is something that will be covered by the dealer, am I right?

the vibration you speak of, especially over bumpy roads if you brake very hard at all is most likely just ABS kicking in. To find out for sure, find somewhere safe to just slam on the brakes as hard as you can and see if it feels the same. ABS always causes a vibration in the pedal, on the a3 i've noticed its a very high frequency vibration, previous cars i've owned were a lot slower vibrations from the ABS. If its not that, go see your dealer.

Ahhh yes, good point.
It did cross my mind that it may be the ABS kicking in.

Its funny because it brakes fine otherwise. I have tested it out somewhat, slowly braking, quickly braking, hard braking. It brakes like a charm There is at times some squeeking, but nothing crazy.. It's just when the car is slowing itself down, im braking at the same time, and hits a pot-hole or a large bump in the road, thats when it happens. When I hit the brakes, the brake pad my foot is pressing on loosens up a bit, then bounces back in a rattling type of way.

So, it could very well be the ABS. But it just feels awkward in a way.

Usually brakes aren't covered under a warranty because they are classified as "wear and tear" items.

If the braking system, and/or ABS is not working correctly on a new car under warranty then a dealer would service it for free. If it is related to normal wearing of brake pads, the warranty doesn't cover it as you said.

From what you just said about the pot holes and such, its almost certainly just the ABS. Just slam them on once, force them to lock up and activate the ABS system so you KNOW exactly what it feels like. That should clear up any questions you have.
