Hey all, i have a 2000 1.8t A3 bought about a month ago so am still pretty new to the car, when i start it up it jumps to 3000 revs for about 5 seconds then drops down to around 700 revs, i was just wondering if it was normal or not for A3's to do this?

If not what could the problem be?

Also i have the engine warning light on and i got it diagnosed as a p1296 error in mapped cooling system.

Any thoughts to what the problem could be with that? as i know that it could be a sensor... how much for repair?
