fusion.. come on cant drive like granny ... but all of my commute is hwy and i just moved so its only 30 miles.. i have been avg. about 30mpg but of course with the gas prices always looking to improve but this is a huge improvement from my land rover.. lol
Since my reflash, I'm actually getting better fuel economy on the back roads. I'm seeing as much as 35. I short shift and put it in neutral on downhills and when approaching a stop. Gotta love the manual trans. Highway is actually a bit less unless you drive 60 or under. The 2.0 liter turbo can actually be a gas pig if you drive with your foot in it all the time. I save the boost for weekends and drive it conservatively during the week.
The keys to maximum fuel economy: accelerate slowly, short shift, anticipate stops and coast whenever possible. Also make sure your tires are at recommended pressure. You can lose up to 3% in fuel mileage by having underinflated tires. And believe it or not, keeping your car clean and waxed, makes it more efficient on the highway (less aero drag). And only use the A/C when you really have to.
