chip are most effective on turbo cars, what they do is modify the air and fuelcurves and turn up the boost. this in turn tell the car its booting more therefore more air, in turn to keep it from running too lean it will add more fuel thus more power. everything has a limit the injectors the fuel pump and even the turbo. after this the car can run rich or lean and can lead to failures. on the NA cars such as the 2.8 it only adjusts the air and fuel curves to there max setting, this usally result in little or no hp gain but allows the powerband to come in at a lower rpm and hold up more towards redline.

its only necessary once you've started building your motor for performance where you'll need a performance mod to control it.

pretty much unless its turbo, then it unlocks the turboand fueling system to its full potential. but alot of people here who drive 30v V6 have aspeedtuning chip and it makes a world of difference in power delivery espacially since its a NA engine.

well im looking to get a b6 a4 and getting a chip is supposed to b the best mod for it and i was just curious what it does, but therefore since this car has a turbo the turbo would be used earlier? is that more so what it does?
