Default A different weird noise

I have noticed a mechanical noise when I open my driver door. It sounds like a servo motor, if anyone know what that sounds like. I wish I could imbed an mp3 as an example, but imagine a mechanical robot arm moving or extending. I haven't isolated it as it lasts only about two seconds and sounds like it comes from the opposite (passenger) side of the car. I park my car in my garage so my doors are never locked. Maybe that has something to do with it? It also happens when the car has been sitting for a while after the last time the door was opened, and not every time the door is opened. Anyone have an idea as to what it might be?

It's priming the fuel pump. Totally normal.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I was thinking the other day...what is involved with priming the fuel pump? Is fuel actually moved somewhere? If so, what happens to it if you are just getting something from your car? Does that fuel just sit there till the next time you start up? Please excuse my ignorance, I am still very new and want to understand everything about our cars.

Well I've noticed that it only primes after the car has been sitting for some time. I presume that after sitting for so long the fuel line de-pressurizes. So if you open the door to get something out and then go away, after a while it should just de-pressurize.
