2000 A3 1.6L 42000 miles - just replaced sparks,having a little problem though,when i put the foot down in say 2nd,it pulls fine up until 4000 revs and then she backs off a bit ie. stops accelerating a little,almost as if a drop in power then it pulls again up until 5000 revs and the same thing!i dont know what it is,the engine is running fine,it revs out in neutral no worries,anybody got any ideas?

 

could be lose plug wires. go check make sure they are all down tight and if that doesnt work you may have to replace them. I ran into the same problem on my old VR6

 

Yeah thanks for that,it was the plugs in the end,when I replaced them I didn't tighten them enough so they started to loosen themselves,then losing compression which is what I felt.Tightened them firmly this time and double checked the HT leads anyway to make sure they're ok,its now back to normal!
