Exhaust Pipes Diameter

RE: Exhaust Pipes Diameter
That's a much debated question. Many argue for keeping the stock 2.5" all of the way, others like the 3" full exhaust. Debate is on the loss of low-end torque from using the 3" pipe, but others disagree. I've read several articles, and not sure what to tell you.
I havea 3" APR down-pipe and 2.5" GReddy CAT-back exhaust. I didn't notice any improvement with just the CAT-back, but the down pipe made the car sing. Couldn't tell you if I lost low end torque? All I know is that the car was much faster after the full exhaust. I'd be more concerned with the sound that you're looking for and not necessarily the pipe diameter. Some exhausts notes on the A3 I really don't like, but the GReddy sounds the sweetest, IMO.
Cheers!

My problem here is that I don't have any way to hear what the different exhausts sound like[&:] I don't want anything too loud, but the stock system is just too quiet. something that sounds like my old 5.0 Mustang would be OK SFLGTG is coming next month, should be able to audition some systems there, if I can get the day off.

Get in your car and start driving now and you can make it to the SoCal GTG. We have many different exhausts on A3's for your listening pleasure. Bring along $20 and you might win your gas money back too.
Cheers!
