Default faulty wastegate fault code /DTC

Hi All,

I am getting an intermittent fault code on my A3 1.8T saying faulty wastegate valve. Initially I changed the dump valve, but this code has returned.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks

unfortunately I didnt write down the exact code the mechanic gave me but i think it was the one of below Any ideas on what problems the code could indicate? It's only an intermittent fault though, but it made my Engine Management light go on once.

blink code 4442 - VAG fault code 01262 - Waste Gate Frequency Valve

Thanks

01262 = wastegate regulating valve possible faults are wiring, blown fuse, wastegate regulating valve, check the in that order

sorry - finally got the invoice today and found the fault code was 17608:

17608 - Turbocharger Bypass Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
35-10 - - - Intermittent

Most people say its the DV but I've only recently changed that from the factory bosche one to a Bailey reciculating - apparently a direct replacement for a factory fit.

If anyone has any tips on detecting the actual fault/faulty part it would be much appreciated.

thanks
