Default Front Driveshaft Clunk?

Well the warranty ran out 2 weeks ago on my 28k A3, and suddenly there's a noise!
When pulling away from rest there's a single clunk from the passenger footwell side - driveshaft/hub area. Not every time, but only as it seems to take up play. And now it occurs sometimes when coming to a stop?
Driving along to- there's no noise or vibration etc.
Appreciate any ideas - particularly if this is a job safely done by my local Euro Shop as the Audi dealer is 2 hrs away!

Thanks for any suggestions!
Paul

Could be a number of things causing the clunk. Any decent shop should be able to determine the cause and do the repair with no problem.

Thanks!
Actually was out in it last night, and on closer listening sounds like the engine moving on a mount and clonking - so could be a bad mount or rubber. Surprising but hopefully easy to get to.

You may be on to something. It reminded me of a TT that did a similar thing. It felt like something loose and was intermittent (from the driver side, not passenger). Ended up being the trans mount cracked. The cast aluminum was broken out where the rubber is bonded to it. On the car, it looked perfect. Only once removed, could you see the crack. That one drove me crazy trying to find. Same thing could very well happen to the pas side mounting.
