At the gas station (freak accident)
Agree completely with drumdork03 in his post above. If one were to conduct an analysis of all the "close calls" that I've experienced in my car, on my motorcycle, or on my bicycles...the vast, vast majority have an inattentive driver using a cellular phone involved.
I think "Chef" gave the best suggestion! haha.
I called my insurance today to tell them what had happened. It's basically like an insurance claim, but not yet filed.
My options if I wanted the claim filed:
I have $500 deductible towards comprehensive, so if I wanted the seat replaced, I would have to pay the $500 from my pocket. So, the heck with that. But if there's was any damage to the seat, I would go this route. No other really good choices.
2nd option was going to the police station and getting a police report made regarding the incident. Then my insurance would go thru the "mindless woman's" insurance and see where it goes from there. But again, since there was no damage to my car at all, anything visible, this might not work either.
3rd option, is just filing the claim as a REPORT, which means my insurance just leaves the file open as a report. And if my seat has any damage from the gas months from now then I can call back and my file is still open and something can be done. For example, if my seat starts to dis-color or crack in 1- 2 months from now.
So, I went with the 3rd option. Basically not filing a claim and just filing it as a REPORT for my insurance to keep aware of.
Its been 3 days since the incident, cant smell the gas much anymore. My soap wash and leather cleaner seemed to have worked pretty well, so far.
thanks for all your support fellas!

Too many inattentive driversout there. AlthoughI have agood friend (female, if anyone is wondering) who did that (drove away from gas pump while nozzle was still inserted into gas tank) once. Luckily, she only damaged the gas door on her car.
