HELP A3 vs A4

Your dealership can made adjustments to the panels to mute the sound; it's been a pretty common issue. With it closed I start hearing wind noise around 50-55 and it gets loud around 65-70, but I'm pretty sure some noise is par for the course.

If the dealer can make adjustments... I wonder if this something Audi might improve upon with the 2008 A3... hmmm. I did notice the wind noise on a test drive. But the dealer said they've had no complaints about it. It was a windy day... but I'm going to have to drive again, and on the freeway this time.
I really apriciate everyones feed back I put the same post in the A4 forum and only got one response so this makes me feel like if i did get and A3 i would have a better/more involved group to ask questions to and shoot the sh** with. As far as the resale value thing goes My uncle ownes a dealership in New York and he is the one that told me about the diffrence in resale values, but I am skeptical b/c A3's havent been out as long so they cant really know too much about their resale value. I am going to go test drive both again tom. and we will see. Thanks Again and if anyone can think of anything else that might help my decision i would be greatful!
I have an aftermarket wind deflector on my E46 BMW, and the sunroof is much quieter. Nevertheless, it's still bothersome at freeway speeds, so while my A3 is louder/more annoying, the BMW's sunroof still gets closed when I'm blasting along the freeway.
No complaints about my A3 but I've only had it for a few months. I have noticed a lot of black soot on the exhaust pipes, not oil though. The engine seemingly runs very rich.
If you're going with an A4, check out a CPO E46 BMW, its probably the best used car buy right now, wagons in particular. Otherwise stick with the A3, much more fun!
