Help Needed: Connecting Aftermarket Stereo.
I'm getting seriously frustrated after purchasing a 1997 Audi A3 with an aftermarket stereo installed. Basically, there's an "Audi" sub-woofer in the boot (in the left hand opening) and speakers in both of the rear door panels (not actually doors as it's a 3dr model) but none of it is hooked up. I've presumed that the rear speakers and subwoofer are self-amplified so I've tried EVERY possible combination, wiring up all of the 'spare' wires to the preout outputs of the head unit and the normal speaker outputs but sound never comes out of the rear of the car.
I have scoured the internet (and have decided that is IS only useful for ****) and still I can't find the answer to what must be a very common question. PLEASE can someone at least point me in the right direction?
The wires I have 'spare' from the car are as follows:
1x blue/white
1x blue/green
1x green/red
2x brown/red
1x brown/light purple (thin)
I presume at least some of the above come from the yellow part of the 20-pin connector which would make them line in inputs to the rear/sub speakers but I must be missing a way of turning on/powering the amps attached to them. Help me, please, before I go on a one-man rampage!!!
