I have the GROM and love it. Installs in literally 10 seconds (plug it into your glove box CD changer cable) and you're done.
You mean I could have done that and not bothered with removing the stereo and disconnecting the CD changer cable and plugging directly into the back of the stereo? It would have been nice if they had told me!

Replying to myself, I just went out and looked and there's no way the connector Grom supplied would plug into the glove-box CD changer cable...they're both female. I had to pull the CD changer cable out of the back of the stereo and plug the connector they supplied all the way over to the right side (facing from the back) of the male connector on the back of the unit.

Googling around brought me right back to this forum:

Looks like they sold me the wrong cable.[>:]

phila-

It looks like you can order the grom with either the in dash or trunk mounted cd changer cable. On the indashpc.com website, you can ask for both cables if you're not sure. I'd call the place you ordered from and ask them to send you the other cable if you want. Sucks to find out after all the work you did.

I pulled out the cubby hole in my glove compartment to see if my car had the cd changer cable and it wasn't there. Which means I don't have the easy option that w@ntonsoup and you have.

I have a dumb question. You can still use the cd player after installing the grom right?

Yes, in fact, I had a CD in the in dash player that I had forgot to remove and had to remove it for the I-Pod to play instead of the CD. Grom Audio actually doesn't have a phone number anywhere on their website...apparently, they only work through email.

You might want to check this one out before you go Grom:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...sid=p1638.m118

Looks like the correct kit WITH the radio keys (removal tool) for $90 plus shipping.

FYI, there seems to be much confusion as to what adapter cable(s) are required for my particular configuration, which is Symphony II, without CD changer, but with the wiring harness for it. I just ordered a P.I.E. AA3-HAR (almost $30!) cable harness which I THINK will fix my problem. The only reason I'm not more sure that it will is that everyone out there, including Crutchfield, seems to think that this is only for Symphony II or stereos that are NOT prewired for a CD changer. I will let you know how it turns out. In the mean time, I think that other vendor above has the best deal...he includes that PIE harness AND the removal key/tool for $90 or so.

No confusion whatsoever. If you don't have a CD changer in your glove box, you can get a cable from GROM for $10 that will attach there in like 5 seconds. If you want to connect it to the back of your stereo for some reason, you can either cut the factory harness for free, or buy the AA3-HAR for $30 and do it that way.

I wish the people I dealt with at Grom knew this. They told me to go get the AA3-HAR somewhere else (they don't sell it). I'm still waiting for it.
