Help - weird dash illumination issue
Twice over the past week, when I've parked and taken the key out of the ignition, the clock and odometer displays have stayed on. They remain on after locking the car as well. Each time I restarted the car and turned it off again, and the problem corrected itself.
It's a little inconvenient, but does anyone know if I maybe tripped some sort of display feature somehow?

To my understanding, isnt it supposed to be like that?
My trip computer doe the same exact thing.
When I take the key out of the ignition, leave my vehicle, and click the lock button on my key, the trip computer stays on for like a couple seconds, and then it flashes itself off.
I didnt think that was an issue at all? Ithink it is pretty cool that my trip computer stays on for alittle while after locking my car.

dosnt sound right to me I know some headlights stay on for a short while after the ignition key is removed and that's to aid you walking away so you have light,
any other light sounds like a problem

What concerns me is that all dash displays have always turned off when the key is taken out, except for 2 times in the past 3 days. I suppose next time they stay illuminated, I can try locking the car and leaving for a few minutes. I'm more concerned with possible battery drain, especially since it's turned really cold in NC this week.
I still think its a problem which should be checked out ( who wants to see the mileage when your leaving the car?? ) the dome light is the only one that should be timed to go off and nothing else as far as im aware of
I wouldnt really classify it as a problem. So, its 3 of us now on our A3's that have this. Are we all 2007's?
There probably is a way of disabling this feature, but it happens so quickly after I press the lock button on my keys, that it hasnt ever really made me think, since now I guess.
And about that draining the battery, it doest stay on long enough for that to happen. So I really cant see something like that taking up battery life. Like I said, its about 10 seconds, if that, the odometer and clock stay on and quickly dims out.
