Default RE: Help - weird dash illumination issue

Just got an e-mail from the dealership. Stated it is normal and that they checked other cars on the lot that were doing the same thing. I don't generally trust dealership service departments, but since they weren'tencouraging me to come in (they know I can get service much closer by) and others here think it's normal, I'm notas concerned.

It happened one time again today and I left the car alone...this time it did blink off in 10-15 seconds. I'll keep an eye on it, though.

I think its related to the 'feature' that makes that section light up as soon as you open the door, so you can get mileage without using the key. anytime the door is opened, it comes on too...i think. staying on after getting out is normal, mine does it too, it does go out after a few seconds.

OK, I think I have things figured out. Turn car off, clock and mileage displays go off. Open door, clock and mileage displays come back on. Shut and lock the door, displays either 1) turn off immediately, 2) remain on for 5-10 seconds, or 3) remain on for 15-20 seconds.

No battery drain = me no worry.
