Hey guys, new to this forum looking for some answers, im in the market for a car but not sure which one, but the a3 is definitely on my list, i was wondering if you could help me by advising me certain things to look for, i.e. common problems, certain noises to watch out for etc... any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Make sure that the oil has been changed often, always with a good synthetic.

One noise that seems ominous, but is very easy to remedy, is the "fuel line rattle" that sounds like something is coming part ahead of the glove box, but actualy originates under the car. Another forum member had the dealer replace the timing belt for that one before learning about it. OOOO-A3 has a good write-up on that:
