Default Idling problems, help please!

Hey,
I've had my A3 1.8 now for 4 months with no problems what so ever!
But now, after i've left work something has happened. When i first started it after work it wouldnt idle at all, fire uit p then it would just cut out.
As the engine warmed up and the automatic chokewent off the revs went erratic when idling, reving between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2. But then when i approached a roundabout the revs went again and it cut out. I did notice when the car was giving the erratic revs thats there seemed to be a bit of play on the accellerator peddle, also when applying a little pressure to the peddle the car would be rev up alot. like there's a lot of fuel going in.

Any thoughts please?

vac lines will cause loss of air volume if damaged and suck too much air in thus altering the fuel air mixture

Just curious. If your A3 is 4 months old, isn't it still under warranty? If so, why bother trying to figure things out yourself, just take it to the dealer. Dealing with the problem on your own may even void your warranty.
