Default audi 80 2lt idling problems

hi i have just got a audi 80 1993 2lt when engine is idling from cold and when warmed up the revs go up and down it never stalls just sounds bit bad does not seem to be affecting driving but fuel ecom is bad anybody any ideas.
also the dip stick does not fit snug into engine will this affect the engine in anyway it seems has so dip stick is from a different car.
oil temp gauge has not moved since i got it is this easy to replace
clutch pedal biting point also seems very high is this normal for this model

idle air control valve is probably to blame for the idling problem, dipstick is slack on mine so I need the yellow bit renewing as do you and you need the right stick, oil temp sensor check the wiring or if it is connected at all ( mine doesnt have one ), clutch peddle can be adjusted at the peddle but a pig to get at
