Default Knock control issues?

Hello everyone, I have a question about my Mk I Audi A3 8L, 1.6 AKL engine (1997 model). It's an extremely well-kept car, with less than 50k miles.

Anyway, as I was playing around with my OBD11 tool, I found out that knock control kicks in at or near wide open throttle. It usually retards the timing several times in a row but the engine sounds just fine. Also, it happens much more often on cylinder 1, the other three seem more in sync. I've been using a 100 octane fuel to see if anything changes, but everything seems to behave the same. Oh and I never got any error codes related to timing or knock sensors. Any ideas about what could possibly be going on? Surely, I don't want any knocking and I also don't want unnecessary timing retardation.

Thanks!
