Motor Problems
I have a 2006 Audi A3 2.0 FSI with 126000 miles. On the way home the other day the car lost power and the oil light came on. The check engine light started flashing as well. My son was driving it and he limped it home. After I drained the oil I found pieces of rubber and metal shavings in the oil. The oil level was not low either. I think that my cam follower went and took out my cam and probably the fuel pump. I am almost 100 % certain this is the problem since I have been getting a check engine light for a p0171 and have been focused on finding a vacuum leak or cleaning my MAF to no avail. I believe my code was called by low fuel pressure due to the cam follower which i think has been slowly wearing out over time. All the other maintenance had been done including timing belt and a new pcv valve and my maf sensor was cleaned. So now I face a choice. I have no warranty and a very good looking dead car on my driveway. I want to fix it but I'm sure it will be super expensive as I probably am gonna need a new motor or at least a new head. What are the chances Audi will work with me if I call them up and raise a stink?? I'm bummed as I really enjoyed the car for the last 60000 miles that I owned it, but I don't know if I can afford to fix it, and a used motor is a big gamble.

Well here is what I would do:
There is a chance that even though the camshaft has been damaged it hasn't completely destroyed your engine. Some people with the cam follower catastrophic failure reported that their camshaft did not break into pieces - therefore didn't destroy the engine.
If you know your way around the engine area get this kit:
Audi A3 FWD 2.0T > Engine > Mechanical > Camshaft > ES#2081104 Complete 2.0T Camshaft Replacement Kit - Stage 1 - 06F198101B
or if you want an upgrade while you are working this get this one (includes a HPFP)
Audi A3 FWD 2.0T > Engine > Mechanical > Camshaft > ES#2081105 Complete 2.0T Camshaft Replacement Kit - Stage 2 - 06F198101B
...and fix the issue.
You could be back on the road and only spend about 500$ -DIY or have and Indie do it for half the labor costs what Audi would charge.
I don't think Audi will be of any help considering your car is now 7 years old and you have over 120k miles on it. There was an extended warranty on the cam follower for up to 120k from what I found in the internet.
