Today, I drove R/T San Antonio to Houston, 400 miles, light traffic, no rush hour traffic, cruise set at 75 mph, 100% highway. Low fuel light came on 15 miles before the end, so I was glad to see 400 miles on a tank. The trip computer said 29.3 mpg, but I calculated 28 mpg after fill-up from same pump I filled up with this morning. The car only has 1500 miles (after the trip). I was expecting a bit more mpg. Up to this trip, all other miles has been to/from work, 40% highway, 60% city driving and I've gotten 23-24 mpg. Should I expect mileage to increase a bit more with break-in or is this what everyone else is getting? Also, has anyone else notice the trip computer being a bit optimistic?

 

i'm getting bad mpg as well right now only 21-27, hope it gets better (just passed 1k)

 

chip it, drive it nicely and you'll get much better mileage....and more power to boot! I got 33mpg on a vegas trip, made it back from vegas to LA on just barely less then half a tank.

 

I was wondering about the effect a chip would have. What was your average speed on the Vegas trip?
