Default Music Via Bluetooth problem

Got my new A3. Love it. Bluetooth connection works with my Samsung Galaxy.
However, when I press the Media button followed by source control button nothing happens. I can't select anything and I can't get the music from my phone to come out the car speakers. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Help, please!

As far as I know, Audi's OEM bluetooth doesn't support the A2DP profile that's used to play music -- it supports only the hands-free phone and phonebook profiles. You would need a third-party interface to make A2DP work.

Hello 3waygeek: While I am disappointed, I thank you for the answer. Can you please tell me what is a "third-party interface". I would love to make this thing work.

IIRC, Kufatec and Dension both make A2DP adapters that you can wire into your system; they'll allow your to stream music from an iPod/iPhone to your car's audio system, and should allow some degree of control through the steering wheel.

Another, slightly less expensive, approach would be to use a simple A2DP adapter such as the Scosche BTAXS. You plug it into your aux input, then your iPod can stream to the aux input. You don't get steering wheel control of the iPod, but this solution would cost less than $100, whereas the Dension/Kufatec would cost several hundred, and take a bit more work to install.

Thanks. Sorry to be so stupid but where is the aux input you spoke about?

On newer A3s, there's an aux input in the compartment under the armrest, next to the two 12 volt lighter sockets. You may not have that, in which case the Scosche solution wouldn't work.

Hi Again. I plan to solve my music streaming problem with a wireless FM transmitter. But now I have encountered a new problem and I am hoping you can advise me. When I got the car several weeks ago my Samsung Galaxy phone paired via bluetooth and while (as you know) I could not stream music I could however make and receive phone calls. But a new problem has surfaced. I pair and connect my phone with the Audi and it works for about 30 or 40 seconds and then shuts down that connection by itself. It won't hold the connection. I've tried over and over and it won't hold. My 12 volt connections are down due to what I think is a blown fuse, but I doubt that that has anything to do with it. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Default A2DP Conflict with Built in Phone Bluetooth?

@3way

Would love to stream music from iPhone over bluetooth. I like your suggestion of: http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/539

So, once, plugged into aux input (in center console) - when this sucker pairs over bluetooth, will it ever conflict with the internal Audi bluetooth phone connection? ie: knock eachother out?

Thanks!
Don

I don't know, as I haven't tried it yet. My guess is that the BT phone would take priority over the aux input, like it does with the radio & CD.

I have BT a2dp adapter, from my experience for androids no steering wheel controls and no display but it allows my android phone to stream music. I have the viseeousa WMA3000A, this works both on my iPhones and Android smartphone. I can say it does bluetooth streaming flawlessly. I like it.
