New 2011 A3 RNS-E... any updates available? Google Maps coming?
I think I know the answer to this...but are there any updates available for the 2011 A3 MMI/RNS-E? especially the map version?
Also, does anyone know if Audi and Google have any plans to team up and provide an update to the 2011 vehicles (besides the A8) that will allow for Google Maps in the RNS-E?
thanks in advance

LOL, likely not. The old RNS-E is at its end of life. I was surprised they even made a hardware and AMI update on the 2010 model.
They usually design something when a new car platform comes out, and the A3 platform has been around for a long while. Expect something in the 2012 model? Didn't CES give a preview of what's to come on the A3?

Yeah...I figured this was the case. and yeah, at CES I think they showed off a touch-screen version of the MMI running Google Maps. Said it would be available either in 2012 or 2013.
When this comes out, I wonder if I would be able to purchase one OEM and replace my current console with it? Any thoughts there?

I don't think it is a touchscreen unit. The big german brands don't believe in the use of non-tactile buttons in a driving environment, even though it might be cool and looks easy to use. It has a little scribble/scroll pad on top of the ****.
I don't think it could be retrofitted, since the relocation of the nav's controls to the shifter area dictates that it is not a single monolithic unit anymore. Unless they have that gizmo in all models, and the non nav ones will only operate the radio and car functions.
