New Suspension Setup Questions (Yes, I read Chef's FAQ)
Hi,
I am looking at a new suspension setup for my A3. I do 2-3 auto-x and 2-3 track days per year. My daily drive is about 100 miles back-and-forth over highway 74 in Socal (lots of twisties and cliffs) I am willing to trade daily drive comfort for cornering grip and performance. I am looking for a setup that will provide the following:
Modest drop 1.0 - 1.5 inches (with no rubbing on 18” wheels, buying these next)
I don’t want to be so aggressive on the drop that create camber/toe problems
Great cornering and lower body roll ( I assume I need sways as well)
Looking for shop in Socal to install
Budget is up to $2K installed (I only want to do it right once)[/ul]
I would welcome your opinions and personal experience/sets ups.
Thanks,
Shaun

I would suggest a nice set of coilovers and definitely the Neuspeed RSB. The coilovers might drop it a little more than you like, but you can dial it to the top and adjust down as needed. I do enjoy my Koni's, but I was originally interested in the adjustable Tien Coilovers. That would be nice for quickly dialing in your stiffness based on need of the road or track. Just install the RSB right away and do some pricing on the FSD/Coilovers. Be aware that mine were WAY back ordered, and it took nearly 3 months for them to arrive.
Cheers!

Or you can save your money and go with a cup kit and 18's with no rubbing, not sacrifice any ride comfort (minimum if any) and the drop will be 1'-1 3/4' improved handling, and the $6-700 dollars you save you can use for a future mod.
Just another option

I have the touring pkg.I sold my 19' axis wheels and h&r sport springs because of the rubbing issue. So i purchased the 18' bbs and went with the h&r touring, it lowers you the least bit 1.5' vs. the sport dropping you 2. something inches one would risk rubbing especially if you have occupants in the car.

oh totally. Its all or nothing. Now I'm just toying with either the NS/Bilstein Setup or H&R Sport cup kit.
I want a nice stance without compromising any potential rubbing. Its rare that I ever have a full car. I'm not into the overly tucked look. Thats basically why I'm so back and forth with both setups. Just not sure...
