noob looking for reputable service in bay area
New to the forum. My wife just inherited her brother's 2006 A3 2.0T. Great car, it's got 24 K mi and, despite how we got it, isreally fun to drive.
Started it this weekend and got a "service!" message. Can anyone on the forum recommend one of the bay area's dealers for service? It's still, supposedly, under the 4 year-50K mi inclusive warranty, so we'd like to take it to a dealer. I've seen mixed reviews for the dealerships in my area (I live in Mountain View so Carlsen, Steven's Creek and Rector are the places I've heard about). Any recommendations would begreatly appreciated.
I'm not that interested in if a dealer will give out a loaner car. I'll settle for a competent and professional service job.
Thanks for your attention.
Best Regards,

Best Regards,
I go to Rector and have been treated very well by George Demar. I also happen to think he's a great guy to boot (plays a mean trumpet!) but he has been very detail-oriented and very informative on my A3 service. He used to work at Stevens Creek Audi for many years before they were acquired.
iModA3 can also recommend another service advisor at Rector which has also been great to deal with.

Thanks for the reference.
While I'm at it, have you ever noticed some kind of rattle coming from inside the dashboard? Occasionally I hear it. Maybe I'm more sensitive to noises because the A3 is so much quieter than my 1987 VW Jetta, so I pick up on the slightest of disturbances. The dash noise is intermittent and makes me think there is some plastic parts inside that are mayber rubbing once a certain frequency is generated. Call me crazy but I think I hear something. Since it isn't a constant noise, I'm afraid any service place will probably say they couldn't repeat the problem, unless there is something that has come up before. The obvious solution is to just turn up the stereo...
Thanks again,
