My stock unit does not play mp3's. Is that same with all stock units? I have a 2007 2.0t btw. Also given that it seems Audi's i-pod solution is a joke, what aftermarket systems are you guys using?

Yep, the Mp3 compatibility happened in the middle of the 2008 production year. There are many stereo options, just do some searching.
