Hi, I have an audi A3 1.6L built 07/97 VIN ending in 131653.

I have been trying to find a timing belt kit (including water pump) but have found that alot of online stores don't have a category for the a3 1.6 and don't seem to stock parts for them.

I know that the VW Jetta/golf etc were built with some part sharing.

Does anybody know which parts are interchangeable between these cars? Specifically, can I use a timing belt kit for a 1993-1999 VW golf/jetta in my 1997 audi a3?

is it the same engine? if it is, it should probably fit. i know the mk5 golfs and a3's have many interchangeable parts
