Yeah, the Thule 400 XT is what I'm lookin at. What do you mean by the flashing has to wrap around the support feet?

This is two rack parts I got from roofrackshop.com
Feet/fit kit and cross bars.
The baracuda racks for the bikes I already have.

Dang if that aint wait all of our A3's dream about in that pic! Phildo what did the dealler say about it that they suggested to go a different direction?

Im sure they just suggested a third party clamping system like thule or yakima

He said build quality of the thule was better than the factory rack. Attached is a picture...i took the rack off a few weeks back so the feet arent there...but you should get the idea of what im talking about Anyone have roof rails with open sky?

Just make sure you clean thoroughly and give her a nice wax job and you will be fine.

I have had the Thule rack on my 06 A3 for two and half years now. I worked directly with a guy fromThule fit systems and recieved one of the first fit kits for the A3 here in America. I have never taken it off and haul my roadbike on it at least 3 days a week all year long.The customer service at Thule is the best. Couldn't even get Yakima to give me a date on when fit kit would get finished. You can nowget thefit kit at REI. I get comments on the roof rack all the time.
I cant get photos to post from my computer and I don't have a url for them.

I got all the parts here in the USA. I don't know what the other guy was talking about.
