Reached 10K mile
I am closing in on 10,000 miles on my '07 A3.
I got my first dealer service at 5K, but I am thinking about bringing it in at 10K instead of waiting the scheduled 15K. What do you all think?
It feels that 5000 miles until 15,000 mile service is such a long wait and I would rather have the oil change at 10,000 miles.
And maybe just going for service every 5,000 miles from then on?
Does anyone know if this is not needed and to just go by the scheduled services for oil changes? Should I wait it out until 15,000 miles for service?

People always seem to get nervous about waiting that long, but it really is okay. The car is designed to run on synthetic and the oil will hold up under normal conditions even past the 10k mark. Having said that, then I do believe there are times when you should advance the service interval. Especially when you are hard on the engine like driving in extreme heat, starting and stopping very frequently, or putting extra stress and demands on the engine from performance mods. I change mine every 5k, but I'm sure that it could go longer without trouble. I just spend the extra $50, and do it myself, for a little piece of mind. I also enjoy the man-car bonding experience.
Cheers!
