Default S4 Chrome mirrors

Can anyone help???

I have a 2001 A3 and want to put some Sline Chrome mirrors on it. Would the mirrors off a 2001 S4 fit my A3??

Any help would be great.

Also has anyone chipped their A3 1.8T or any model?? thinking about chipping mine 40bhp - will it be trouble???

Cheers

Chipping typically doesn't cause any problems. You may need to replace the diverter valve though.

I'm not sure about the mirrors, we only just recently got the A3 over here in the States. The best thing you can do is call the dealer parts department and ask for the part numbers for both mirrors. If they match up then yeah they will work. The S4 mirrors are SUPER expensive though. I bought mine off ebay.co.uk for less than $200. That's a third of the price of oem mirror housings.

Thanks for the reply!!

The mirrors you got from ebay... are they the plastic ones by IN PRO or genuine Audi ones? I just ask cos just the genuine chrome casings on ebay now sell for around £250 about $450. Yeah there well expensive from the dealers, i have been in touch too many times to audi to see if different mirrors will fit, so they have now started saying they wont fit and trying to sell me the part instead for £700 $1260... i don't think so. I might try my luck and see if they fit... if not i can always sell them.

So what does this valve changing involve....... not very mechanically minded...expensive...easy???

Cheers

Yes mine were the In Pro mirror housings. The quality is suprisingly high, i'm very happy with mine. They are virtually flawless. I bought the matte finish ones by the way.

The diverter valve isn't especially difficult to change. I don't know where it is located though on the A3 as the engine is mounted differently than in the A4. You're on your own.

I've been thinking of getting the INPRO instead as picking up a genuine pair is ticking me off. I've got a metallic grey A3 and i thought the brushed alloy type wouldn't show v much so thought the pollished type would look better.... what do you think??

Have you chipped your car? if so would a 40bhp gain be pretty noticeable??

Cheers

A 40 HP gain will be very noticeable for you. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

You're right the polished mirrors may stand out more on a silver car. I'm just not a fan of anything chrome. You know us Americans like to put chrome on all our cars/wheels. I'm pretty turned off. *yuck*
