I've only had my A3 for a few months and it's a blast to drive. I'm looking forward to some of the mods many of you have recommended. But I haven't heard about mods to steering. Do others find that the steering has too much play particularly at lower speeds? Is there a mod to address this?

 

Yes, you can VAG-COM it to a lower number and make it tighter. $250 device. You'll need it if you plan to do any other system mods like change light configurations, etc.

 

steering mod isn't available on 07s....although the vag com cable is still a valuable tool to have.

 

Thanks for the info. Living in traffic-prone Seattle, I'd prefer tighter steering to weave through congested streets and freeways. Hopefully, they'll eventually have a steering mod for the '07.

 

the steering mod that most have done involves lowering the steering boost setting via vag com. since it involves re-programming the cars computer modules, i doubt that it'll ever be possible.

What am I missing? is the VAG COM non functional for a 2007?

 

you can still use a vag com on the 07s. just not for steering assist....it's been locked out.

 

One more reason I'm glad I own a 2006!
