Storage Cover A3
zlguocius--well besides me, there are 3 girls that live in my "rental complex" and they don't give a **** about their cars -- so not sure if they are "good indicators".
all i know is my 2001 Black Golf did not do so well after 7 years of direct sun.

I need to purchase a cover for my A3 soon. I am looking at the Audi cover, but I am open to other options. How much stretch/slack is in these covers toward the bottom of the car? I plan to get a body kit sometime down the road, probably Oettinger or Caractère. Will any of these covers reach far enough to cover the extra 3 inches or so that a kit will add to the bottom of the car? Do these covers have fasteners that will not work with an aftermarket kit? Anyone use one on an A3 with the S-Line kit?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I used a cover for my A4 from Costco.com. They are made to order for your car and mine fit very well. I haven't ordered one for my new A3, but I just looked at the web site and they are $149.00. A pretty good price for the quality.
My particular model, which is a top-of-the-line CoverCraft model does a great job of keeping the car fairly cool inside, even if it's out in the sun. That is a truly remarkable feature. It also locks beneath the car with a steel cable, so it might slow down a thief for an extra ten of fifteen seconds, depending upon how well-equipped he arrives to steal a aar.
BAMF,
My Covercraft Weathershield HD cover originally didn't properly, IMHO, cover my S-line (orginal model was probably basic or premium). Covercraft then modified it. It fits great now. I.e., Covercraft can , if asked, always make a truly custom cover for you.
Although one can use a steel cable, I never use it. It's unnecessary where I leve/work and takes more time to put the cable on than the cover.
BTW, Santa Barbara has had a lot of ash fallout from a huge (>240,000 acres) - my covered car remained very clean.

Eh3 [Santa Barbara] is absolutely correct about the vinyl-covered steel cable taking longer than the cover to install. I only use my cable when the car will remain unused for a couple of days at a time.
As long as one consistently rolls it in the same direction, it's on and off very quickly. Aside from the obvious paint-preservation and UV-reducing properties, another nice thing is that a cover prevents falling leaves, pollen, and twigs from settling between the body panels and blocking drain holes. Debris that settles in there will eventually decay and turn into a caked dirt. The uniform surface just lets these things bounce harmlessly off and fall to the ground.
