Suggestions for CAI for A3 2.OT
Hey audinam, checkout Neuspeed theirs is called P-flow
The filters to me look and preform close to the same my question is how cool can you keep the air that is going in.
Neuspeed has a heat shield around the tube that looks like it may keep the tube alot cooler than its competitors.
think about it that tube is sitting in that hot engine compartment just heating up. The only negative w/ their set up is you have to remove the engine cover for good or install carbon over the top. Or Carbonio has a built in heat shield, and it looks sexy.

from what i can tell from the carbonio, is it looks nice....and thats about it. it doesnt really do anything. just replaces the stock box in front, and that's not where the restrictions are, the restrictions are in the engine cover / tube. I read one review of it and it doesnt even alter the sound, or provide power, but it is damn sexy.
Thats one review, you base all your decisions on one review?
That is whyi gave him the neuspeed option that takes care of all your restrictions and comes w/heat shield around the whole tube.
Try to be alittle less agressive next time on what your fellow audi owners write, you're not the only one who knows it all, haha

that awesome!!!!!!!!!
as for the rest of the suggestions......... like i said........ i just need input........ i'm not installing the CAI for looks......... i'm making my decisions PURELY on performance........ 10hp's is 10hps....... that's pretty good........ carbonio is nice the fact the it's carbon fiber, but the rest of the tube IS NOT.......... i'll look into the neuspeed also and i'll drive over to Group5 motorsports down here in SD for their suggestions also.
thanks for the input guys........
so i check out both the Neuspeed and the EVOMS, but i don't know if the pipes on both are carbon fiber? or just plastic? it doesn't say on ne of the websites............ as for the Neuspeed, do i have to take out the engine cover just to put in the CAI? would the cover fit back in? same with the EVOMS....... do i or do i NOT have to remove the cover? pls help
Both of them are not carbon fiber. I think the Carbonio is the only intake made from carbon fiber. I'm not sure how effective it is however - it's probably one of those form vs. function things, and I'll agree with you the Carbonio looks nice.
As far as the engine cover, both the Neuspeed, the Evoms, and the AEM require you to take off the engine cover. You also have to remove the bumper and some other parts in order to install. These intakes require the removal of the stock engine cover because it gets in the path of the intake. The Carbonio, however, does not require the removal of the cover since its placement does not conflict with the cover.
Not trying to imply that you don't already know this Audinam, but do you know how a cold air intake works or why it's better than a normal intake? Well, just in case, an intake basically delivers air to the engine (gas+air+spark = combustion). The greater amount of colder air that is supplied to the engine, the more hp, mpg, etc. you get. CAIs work in different ways.
Some supply the air from a cooler part of the engine bay, such as closer to the bottom of the front bumper, as opposed to right next to the engine (which is where the stock airbox is). However, the configuration of these types of intakes require the removal of the engine cover because of their unique construction. See in the picture of my AEM intake, you can't even see the filter part of the intake. That's because the intake extends down into my bumper.

Some CAIs, such as the Carbonio, use heat shields to allow for colder air. These usually use shorter tubing and are called short ram systems. Since the Carbonio merely uses carbon fiber as a heatshield and sits right next to the engine, some argue that the Carbonio is not as effective.
This link to the Neuspeed intake off the EuroCode tuning site shows the short ram intake with the heat shield.

Hope this helps!

Oh, and btw - Carbonio might be the only company that makes a carbon fiber intake, but there are companies that make whole carbon fiber engine covers ....
That's a lot more carbon fiber under your hood ... but there goes another mod to add to the list ....

Nam, get the evo ms and here are my reasons:
[ul][*] Neuspeed intake uses a metal tube vs Evo Ms all plastic tube -- Plastic conducts less heat which is good[*] Evo Ms give's you a heat shield while neuspeed does not -- Less engine heat will be directed to intake[*] Evo Ms put some R/D into their intake to maximize airflow. They did not just make a straight tube and call it an intake[*] Evo Ms sells a heat shield for $25 to keep the heat from the manifold/downpipe/turbo[*] Evo Ms will release their carbon fiber engine cover in 2-3 weeks.

PS
if you know it all too, you'd have known that!
all in fun, thats what we are here for, right?
