Default Tinting OpenSky

Hi all. I'm finally gonna pull the trigger and get off of my butt. I'm looking at getting my windows tinted really soon. Now, I know that there have been many threads discussing the tinting of the OpenSky sunroofs and some have said that there are problems with it while others have done it. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any problems and how many of y'all have tinted your roof panels. Comments; advice; pictures.....

My advice is to tint your open sky and then report back to me and let me know if it really makes a difference in car temp. Then maybe I will be convinced to get the same thing. Also I recommend 20% all around with the moro blue your car would be secs on wheels

I would love to do the 20%, but here in Maryland the limit is 35%. The shop said that they will put the total "limo dark" on the roof panels. I will definitely let everyone know how it does with the remainder of the summer.

I am from VA we have the same 35% law but it didnt stop me (b/c I am a rebel haha) I havent been hasseled once as long as you dont drive like an idiot or bring attention to yourself on the road (thumping system, spastic driveing, excessive speeding, etc.) you should be alright. Anyway it will look better no matter what you do and please do let me know how that works out for the rest of the hot summer/fall months.

15% on my Open Sky has been wonderful. Little to no greenhouse effect for me.

Hey drumdork;
How's the view through the panels? Does it still look open?

I'm still looking at buying an A3, and have been concerned about the Open Sky here in the Texas sun...I park outside at work and it's been over 100* lately.

A search pulled this up...

...gave me a little hope, but all ears about the tinting option as well.

Thats a way to do it. I lived in Vegas with my opensky and all I did was crack it when I was parked to let the excess heat vent out. it never got unbearable even getting into it in a suit. And a reminder to you all thats a consistant 110+ during the day and a low of if we are lucky of 85. I still haven't tinted my roof but with shade closed and cracked it was not bad at all.

Okay. Had 'er done. It's about 40% all around with about 5% for the OpenSky. And so far it's been a world of difference. You can still see the sky and have that open air feel - but with the shades open, you are not getting roasted when driving around mid-day. I will definitely get pictures out by the weekend.
