TPMS and 2 sets of wheels
For those of y'all with 2008 modelsand run a set of winter wheels and tires, and another set for the summer, how do you deal with the TPMS thing every time you change the wheels?
[ul][*]Ignore the light during the winter[*]Buy a second set of sensors (how do you train the car to a second set?)[*]Have the sensors changed between rims twice per year[/ul]
FWIW, my preference would beto buy a second set of sensors for the winter wheels (assuming retraining the car is possible). Thoughts?

All you should have to do is use the dash button to "re-learn" the ideal tire pressure whenever you swap wheels. The A3's TPMS is not a 'smart' system (with a sensor in each wheel), instead it uses the (ABS) wheel speed sensors to tell when a wheel is out of balance.
I've heard conflicting reports about the U.S. version of the A3's TPMS system, some say there are sensors (including TireRackhttp://www.tirerack.com/wheels/TPMSS...ModClar=S-Line ), some say the A3 uses the ABS methodology. Furthermore, I've heard that the pre-2008 TPMS models used the ABS version of the truth, however, starting with this model year, ALL A3s use a sensor.
That said, your point about hitting the "re-learn" button makes a lot of sense. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

My A3 2008 US has beru sensors in the wheels.
Dealer wants 80 $ per each of them.
I ended up buying the winter set from Tirerack with sensors included . They ask 55$ per sensor but do not sell them separately.
After installing the new set the tpms light came on. I just pushed the set button for few seconds and went off.
Tirerack gave me great service and price!
