Default Turbo Problems

Hi, I have an A3T, usually the Turbo started to kick in at 2500 revs, but lately if you floor the car in 1st and 2nd, it does not feel like the Turbo kicks in, the rev counter goes directly to 4 or 5 000 revs, it feels like im driving a car without a turbo, you can hear the Turbo is working but it lacks that quick pull away and power it had when the turbo kicked in at 2500 revs, any ideas on what can be the cause of this, will appriciate your comments.

I see that you're in South Africa, so I'll assume that the car is somewhat older??? Anytime that the clutch is "engaged" and the rpms spike immediately, that is a sign of the clutch slipping. If it is slipping in 1rst and 2nd gear, then you either have an enormous amount of torque in your engine and the clutch just can't handle all the power, or the clutch is very old and worn out. Usually the clutch slippage is first noticeable in the highest gear. If you are in 5th/6th gear cruising at 2k-2.5krpms, hit the gas hard and see if the rpm's jump quickly, but you don't get any accleration. My guess is that your clutch is toast.

Sorry.

I second this opinion, and if you can 'hear the turbo working' then its almost a sure thing its your clutch thats toast.

Hi
I got similar problem. I havent heard any wierd noises, but one day I realised that my turbo didn“t kick in.
Is this because of a leak or what is it?
