Default Weak Starting Issue

Does anyone experience weak starting issue with their A3 before? If so, what are the diagnoses? I have this starting problem normally during the mornings or my engine set idle and cool off for a while. Thanks!

have your battery & charging system tested... you can go to any kragen's auto zone.... its free too & they will do it right in the parking lot....
if its bad..... go to the dealer and have your stuff replaced if its under warranty...

When was your last service? Have you had the I3 update performed by your dealer? And, if it is convenient stop by the dealership.

By weak start, do you mean it takes the starter longer to get the engine running or do you mean it idles poorly when started?

I3 update is to correct that, among other things. I used to have a hard time and not so anymore either? Not sure what mod helped, but it kicks right over now.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems like the issue is the engine rather than the battery. I have no problem on starting the car when the engine still "warm" (e.g. a quick stop for grocery shopping). The weak starting problem specially happened during mornings or the car sat for awhile after the long work days. To answer BAMF, it did take the starter longer to get the engine running (I wasn't able to get the "engine running" few times, but it started right away when I turned the ignition again). I will bring it to the dealer in the next two weeks and I will keep everyone posted.

I have had a very similar problem since I bought my car about 6 month ago,and after a while my car also started to have some shifting issues as well when I first started driving it in the morning almost like a loss of power for a few seconds (don’t know if you have experienced that or not). I have taken my car in a couple times for the problem; in fact I just got the car back yesterday so I'm hoping it is fixed this time. They have replaced the ECM, the starter ignition (not sure what they called it), and checked the battery. Hope they can fix your problem when you take it in, and if they do let me know what it was. There is nothing worse in my opinion then having a car that’s less then a year old but starts like a diesel truck with 100,000 miles on it!![:@]
