When Do You Get A Loaner?

When Do You Get A Loaner?
I dropped my A3 off at the dealership for the first scheduled maintenance last week. I thought I was supposed to get a loaner car for the day for free. At least that's what the Audi salesman told me when I bought my A3. Instead I got a shuttle ride to the office and had to beg a co-worker to give me a lift to the dealership. Does anyone know Audi's policy on this?

RE: When Do You Get A Loaner?
Probably depends on the dealership. The one servicing my car told me initially that they provide loaners for warranty repairs or appointments that require keeping the care more than a few hours. They ask that those getting routine service wait for the car or grab a shuttle. However, I've gotten a loaner every time so far.
Of course they also said they usually offer Camrys, but I've been given an A6 (that drove and creaked like a boat) and an A4 (which drove impressively).

It all depends on the dealership, how many loaners they have, how busy they are, etc.
The most common policy seems to be that unless the car needs to be there overnight, you have to take the shuttle.
And if you didn't buy the car at that particular dealership, they don't have to give you a loaner at all.

I get a loaneranytime I take my car in as long as I schedule an appointment. Always Audi's. Have been in A3's and A4's. Hell, I got a loaner when I dropped my car off at the dealer because the service advisor wanted to see if he could get my windows to roll up/down via the keyfob [sm=icon_rock.gif](they couldn't). One of the few good things about being in Oklahoma is the hospitality.

The dealership that I take it to here in Southern California is always busy so that must be why I don't get a loaner (even though I make an appointment). It just sucks to not have a car for a whole day and have to figure out how to get a ride back to the dealership. My girlfriend was ragging on me saying that she get's a loaner at the Volvo dealership and she thought Audi was supposed to be more upscale. Maybe I'll take my car to the dealership in Oklahoma for the loaner and friendly service

RE: When Do You Get A Loaner?
I bought my car at Pacific Audi and have always gotten a loaner, and if they are out, then I get a free rental from Budget. Not sure where you are located in SoCal, but that dealership has always been upfront and good to me.
Cheers!

RE: When Do You Get A Loaner?
I learned when leasing my car it MUST be in writing to get what the salesperson promised.... I also learned pretty quickly that if you confront them while they are on the floor with a customer about what they promised you get more than you barganed for pretty quickly!!
Put your salesman on the spot for what they promised in front of a customer and I guarantee you get more!!
(Maybe by more they just spit in your gas tank... but hey its NY for me)

The only car co. down here in miami that still gives free loaners is BMW.
Otherwise get ready to rent a car with a discount from the dealership,(dodge neon, pt cruiser, toyo corolla etc. I think if you buy like premium top of the line model you'll be qualified for a loaner.

Offered a loaner but I just waited at the dealership with my laptop
My dealership offered a loaner, but it was easier just to sit tight at their location with my laptop. I had internet connectivity and did work until my car was finished with a scheduled service. No muss, no fuss.
