they should put a VR36 engine in there

no the VR6 engines they are compact, look at the R32 which is an A3 with out the luxary, remember dubawars how many R32s did we turbed or supercharged, acutally how many did we see that werent turboed or supercharged its like all of them were
You know, I looked at the BMW 130i, which cost $65000. I am assuming this is the S-3s competion, the S3 costing $44000. I don't know, I agree 44K is a bit much, but 65K. WTF!!! And the S3 offers comparable stats. My only complaint is, IMO the engine should be an N/A if it is trying to compete with an inline 6, I think that could be a discriminator against the S-3, if you are still debating after considering the price first. I agree though, with a little effort and a lot less cash you could get similar performance out of an A3.
i dont know about you guys, but i sure as hell like the A3 5-door's taillights a LOT better then those...steeringwheel is nice, trim is really nice inside too. not sure its worth the extra 15k over a a3 2.0, but i'm sure it'll sell in europe, we can only hope it comes to the states.

There is a lot more potential with a smaller engine and forced induction, rather than a bigger, normally aspirated car anyways. Audi has proven that over and over again!

this makes everything better, nuthin like stronger internals and block and a bigger turbo, i wonder are they using the K04
, so this engine might have great potential
The biggest change, of course, lies in the engine. The 2.0-liter direct-injection unit gets a bigger turbo, stronger pistons, connecting rods, and engine block.
, so this engine might have great potential

A3 2.0T chipped with 93, get an exhaust and a bigger turbo, i think that'll be faster than a factory/off the lost S3...... AND CHEAPER TOO!!!!
