Hi all.

So I just got an Audi (my first?) 2001 A6 . It's in pretty OK shape, but definately has room for improvement. There are also a few problems, detailing wise. I was hoping to get some advice from you all on these issues:

1. Scratches. It has a few scratches that I think I might be able to rub/polish out. Any hints on technique? As you can see it has a black "metallic" type paint. There are also a few paint chips here and there. Hints for those? (paint pen vs paint and a toothpick vs other?)

2. Pillar stain: not sure where these came from. I talked to a local Audi mechanic, and he had seen this once or twice before, but not sure about the source either. No obvious sunroof leak or other. Anyway, what's the best way to clean this without damaging the liner?

3. Leather: I plan on using the lexol stuff for the seats. I'm wondering what's leather and what's leatherette? Is there leather elsewhere that needs leather care (door inserts?) or should I just use vinyl type stuff there? (vinylex, 303 aerospace, etc)

4. lenses: the headlight lenses have a "haze". What's a good way to clean these up?

5. The chrome like trim is faded and whitish (bottome edge of trunk lid, along windows, etc). Best way to try to restore these?

6. Finally the big project, shining up the paint. I see several options here: claybar, polish with an orbital, Meguiar's 3 step, etc, but I'm not sure how they compare. What the best and still safest way here?

Anyway, looking forward to cleaning this car up. All your help is greatly appreciated.
