Default %$*&#@! Dealership.

So I took my car into the dealership for repairs...I wanted it done right. O by the way I have a 01 A4 1.8TQM Sport. They told me I have oil in my turbo and intercooler, a coolant tank leak and other things like brake pads and rotors, a broken flex pipe and a problem with my right fron tire. I knew I had these problems, that's why I took it in. Ends up my warranty (piece of shi#) is not covering anything. Dealership told me that it'll cost $4000 to fix everything. Ridiculous. I need help. Anybody in the New York area know where I can take it to? What other solutions are there?

Try a eurotuner instead of dealership. Check this site first:
http://1.8t.org/tuners/

I am very close to KMD in Mountainside, NJ but haven't been. They specialize in VW/Audi/Porche and locals have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm sure there are some good shops in NY, too.

It is always smart to get a 2nd opinion so definitely do that. By the way, I hear it isn't uncommon to have some oil in your turbo and maybe even your intercooler. Wait for others confirm that though.

oil leak and coolant tank could be covered but the rest is normal ware and tare but its difficult because of the age of the car as to weather you could be covered

who do you have an your extended warranty through? I can see them not covering the tire, breaks and stuff like that. But they should cover turbo's intercoolers, and other mechanical things.

extended warranty's are always a joke - I just read yours (if you have the basic plan) and it is worded so that all common things that go wrong with a car are not covered - "fluid leaks" are not covered. Its how the dealership words what is wrong with the car that tells the warranty company if they will cover or not. Always read the "not covered" section of the warranty. sorry to say that I think your gonna get stuck with this one. not to mention that in the warranty they say that they can choose where to have repairs done at not you, and that's not at the dealer.

Yea this really does suck. I'm contacting all the shops in my area to try and get some quotes. Looks like I'll have to take the car in to them so they can check it out and give me a price.
