Default 2001 replacement mirrors question...



how the mirrors work depends on the model year. The only time a switch was involved is in the 96 &amp; 97's I think (came on with the defrost switch). The 98's were always on - which is why mine are burned out.</P>


The 99's + are controlled by some thermal activated switch I believe and come on at certain times not controlled by you.</P>


As far as I know, ALL A4's in the US came with heated mirrors, cold weather package or not. It was a standard item. Maybe yours are simply burned out.</P>


Many people have modded their newer cars to use the defrost switch, also.</P>

I just bought a '98 and it looks as though the constant heat has started to melt away that blue tint - anyone know a good supplier of OEM mirrors? Maybe a full size one for the passenger side while I'm at it?

best to find a used one at the junk yard a new one will run ya like 200 for just the damn glass
