I don't know if there is a way to tell without service records. But there has been a recall on them recently. The 2001 is the year with the problem too if I remember correctly.
2002 models also had a big problem with ignition coils. I had all four replaced due to recall, thought problem was solved, but I just blew my 5th ignition coil (out of 4 coils!!) today. <edited><editID>marspike</editID><editDate>37976.8363310185</editDate></edited>
if you had them replaced with the recall they should be ok. The reason they were dying is because of the process of hot they were assembled in the plant. That process has since been refined to fix the problem.
Is this ignition coil problem the same as what i get with my 98 Audi.... coz when ever my car is on a slight hill or something i have real problems getting the key to turn in the ignition.... and feel as though im gonna wear out the key or the ignition coz i can be playing around with it for like ten minutes sometimes before i can get the dam thing to start!

nah - the ignition coil has nothing to do with the key ignition. It amplifies/conducts the electrical charge from the sparks I believe. More commonly referred to as coilpacks.
The problem with the key sticking on hills is a common one.
