Default RE: Adding a chip?

Tips do not "need" a tip chip when engine chipped. But they do have quicker shifts with one. And for $250 its not a bad deal.
Yeah... OK... maybe "need" was the wrong choice of word. Just my advice to do the package deal - get everything out of the system you can.

THANK YOU for clarifying brrman!!! much appreciated!! i was confused by that statement about not chipping autos (since i'm sure there are plenty of chipped autos around). i know that autos are less efficient than manual trannys, but i've never heard about them "blowing up" easier w/ a chip. thanks again for the clarification and the GREAT info!!

i will definitely look into the various companies you guys have listed...i'm just helping my sis out with her A4.

Aside from the legal crap that went on you mean? Well it's supposed to be a good idea; the product needs more time for further development IMO.

I wouldn't choose it just because you think it is the only way to get power. Chips have been the mainstay for so long - how many times have you heard of anyone with a chip getting nailed by a dealer? I haven't heard of anyone. Yes, it is a risk that we all know exists, but the facts and details are more complex than the title of the issue. The dealer has to first discover that the car is chipped, then has to prove a "direct" cause from the chip. This alone is difficult to do. The only issue that can be linked directly to a chip is the turbo. The dealer can make a pretty good case that the chip "abused" the turbo, but again, it's an individual case by case issue. Most of us don't worry about it and do the chip upgrade.

Some even have spare ecu's with stock chips to swap in when they go to the dealer. Some dealers don't care (shhhh!)

Search around the forums and see for yourself.

Everyone hear should know that a automatic engine loses more power then a manual transmission after a while right ? well if you do know that then think about it if you chip a car why does the warranty become voided? because the dealership knows that it will **** up your engine itll make it run to hard.

"after a while"??? er, NO. The only power loss occurs in the torque converter. The torque converter on an A4 can handle upwards of 250 hp. The power in an auto does not degrade over time.

Sure a chip adds stress to all parts of the car, but the consequences of chipping are the same between a manual and an automatic. Auto's have no additional problems or dangers attributed to chipping. The "dealership" will void your warranty on their first chance for whatever reason they can - its saves them lots of money. I know 4 people who are chipped, 2 that are autos. None have ever had problems.

Dude, stick to topics you know something about, or at least try to explain what your saying a little better.
