â–²SHOULD I BUY A 1998 A4 QUATRO FOR $7500
i had a 96 a6. 135,000 mi, head gaskets had to be replaced. seemed to always have some issues re maintanance, but then again i had a friend who had an early 90's model that had 200,000+ mi that just had regular stuff done. would have gone longer but he wrecked it and insurance co deemed it totaled. goes to show, you never know what your gonna get.
i would go for it, but when you test drive it, drive it in the same shape way and form u would drive everyday cause thats a TRUE test drive, aslo make sure there is nothing wrong with it because telling ur slef "it can be easilly fixed" is not the same as spending the money to fix it. Another thing, be patient, dont go for the first car you see, wait and maybe u could get a better price, but if u need the car ASAP than go for it.
Hey,
I am also in the same situation. I can buy a '98 with 78k miles on it for $9500.
I am just wondering if buying a car with this many miles can be a money trap.
Can anyone offer suggestions of any types of mechanical problems I may face,
and when?
I really want to buy this car, but don't want to run into costly repairs.
