Default 01' A4 1.8T Quattro 5 speed problems

After a long hard run to redline when I come to a stop the car will stumble and sometimes cut off. Then when I restart and try to take off it won't go. It will rev up but when I let the clutch out it has no power. When I get on the car I can hear air rushing near the intercooler but I don't think I have any boot leaks. They are all tight and the car runs great sometimes. Could I have a DV valve problem or a wastegate sticking?

Have codes read. Could be MAF.

Car is not setting any lights nor can I get any codes with my snap on scanner. Just a rushing of air like a boost leak but only sometimes. But the car will stall randomly when coming to a stop. Air sounds like it's coming from driver's side. I can hear it on acceleration.

Car is a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro, 95K, Fresh Timing Belt service. Car has just started sometimes cutting off at idle when cold. The idle will surge and then sometimes it will cut off. Car runs great when warm other than the random rushing air sound from the driver's side. Also sometimes around 4500 rpm the car seems like it is running out of fuel. It just goes flat. Other times it is great. I hate intermittent problems. The check engine light came on the other day going down the highway and then went back off about 2 hours later. Car runs too good to have any major boost leaks but I am stumped.

If the CEL came on, read the hidden codes.

do you hear a hissing noise when you accelerate?

if you look above the red hose, you will see a bigger (looks dirty) hose that has a connection to it. I'll bet that unsnapped or you will need to get a new one. i had a problem with that hose, it would disconnect upon acceleration and making a hissing noise. hope this helps.

I do get a hissing noise when accellerating. It comes and goes, very random. When it is hissing it seems to have better low end response. I got some codes today as it started hesitating horribly and the CEL started flashing. It too is very random. I think I have two seperate problems. The codes I got are:

p0300 random/multiple misfires
p0301 misfire cyl1
p0302 misfire cyl2
p0303 misfire cyl3
p0304 misfire cyl4
p0172 System too rich (bank 1)

maybe your coilpacks or icm is ng for the misfire codes. system too richdue to aleak in the intake pressurized air would need to be leaking after the MAF, or the system too rich code is there bc of the misfires - not firing=not burning fuel=systemtoo rich?Sounds like you should bring your car in to have itdiagnosed.
