03 A4 or 01 A4?
Howdy, lads and lasses!
My first post here. I've been lurking for a couple days and reading up on the great things people have done with their cars.
I'm just days away from purchasing an Audi A4 and thought I'd check here to see what the consensus was on two cars I've found.
The first is a 2001 A4 1.8tq with about 50,000 mi. Looks great and has been through the local dealership to make sure all maintenence is up-to-date. It's nice, but:
The second car is a 2003 A4 1.8t (not sure if it's quattro though I think it is not). It's got 17K miles and looks absolutely spectacular. It's got premium package and 17in rims.
Colors; because that's important. The '01 is a beige color with beige interior. The '03 is a charcoal gray with ebony interior. Smokin' hot.
Any thoughts on the 2001 vs. 2003? Obvisouly I'll be paying a little more for the 2003, but I know the model changed pretty quickly. Didn't know if there were problems with the 03 I should be looking out for.
Thanks and cheers to you all!

Thanks Pops! Both cars are automatics. If I've read correctly, the CVT is the valve timing transmission on the autos, right? So are you saying that if it has the CVT to be careful? What should I be looking for? Any service I should have them do before buying? Thanks again.
p.s. yeah the color combo on the 03 is very very nice!!!

Well I went back to the dealer today to look at the two cars. I was definitely leaning towards the 2003 today. The color combo plus the fact that it's a newer car with less miles pushed me over the edge. When I got there the salesman showed me a new car that they just added that night. It's a 2004 1.8tq with 6900miles. Green with tan interior. Premium package, but no CD changer. I have to say that I liked this one too. But the color combo on the 2003 was just awesome. BTW, both the 03 and the 01 were 1.8t, non quattro. The 04 not only is a quattro but it's $4K cheaper than the 03. Go figure. Apparently it was the dealers loaner car, and it's never been titled. I'm thrown for a loop here. Obviously my pocket book says get the 04 (more warratny, quattro, newer, less miles), but the boy racer in me says the 03.... man that color combo is just awesome. Is this a no brainer and I'm just beating myself up or what? Speak to me oh gurus from beyond!!! And tell me I can get 50 HP from a computer chip! Please, and I'll be happy!
