1.8 chipped or mbc
Will a K04 with a chip on a B5 A4 require injectors or just a fuelpump and a FPR? From my search it seems the stock injectors will be fine up to 220hp and I assume the K04 will be around 230hp but will the chip alow the injectors to keep up....? I was thinking 14-16psi for starters.....
I have both an APR chip and a MBC and I really enjoy it. Nothing compares to a chip, reflashing all new software is allways allways allways going to be better than a mbc. The biggest thing the mbc does with just a chip is retarding the wastegate. The car drives a little different with the mbc turned up a little.
Well I run one on my eclipse @ 20lbs on a Big 16G I just dont know how these cars react to them. My eclipse has a HKS 255 fuelpump and 550's with a 2G MAF and will be just fine no chip no nothing. The 1.8t seems totaly different............
well im not to smart and i need to find the write up for the install of a mbc, there was this great diagram that i thougt i saved but i cannot find it. i looked af, az and aw with no luck. plz help

The most cost effective mod for the 1.8t is to chip it. It cannot be beat. Do yourself the favor and do it right the first time. MBC is half-assing it and will probably cause more problems later on down the road. The chip adjustes your fuel curve, boost, and timing.
You cant just slap on the MBC and expect the computer to like it. Especially if you have a 2000 or later 1.8t, you'll get boost deviation codes. Yeah it'll work on a DBC car, but the DBW system with the MAP sensor ain't going to be happy.
You can find chips to buy used all the time across the internet.
