1.8 turbo VS. 3.0 v6 popularity question?
im looking to buy an A4. Can anyone tell me why there are so many 1.8L turbo's for sale compared to the 3.0 V6? is there a quality issue between the two or where there just more of the 1.8's produced than the 3.0's?
The answer to your question is in your subject.. They are just more popular for the most part and for a number of reasons. Welcome to the forums, and let us know when you get your 1.8t!
hahahahaha little bit biased onepoint8T??? LOL says it in your name
the 1.8t is easily tunable.
the 3.0 is not.
BUT the 3.0 has more power outa the box.
i have a 2.8 but glad cause i'm broke and in college. If you're looking for horsepower and Turbo speed and stuff go with the 1.8 but if you like superchargers or don't want to spend extra $ for tuning go 3.0 cause you'll have more power and luxury without going aftermarket.

okay, thank you guys!
i just sold a 97 mitsubishi eclipse RS (base model) that i turbo'd and built the crap out of with just under 300 whp. Im a new daddy aas well so we are looking for a good "family" car, so thats why the 3.0 is appealing. If i get the 1.8 i would be to tempted to build it up again. Besides, i hae another "project" car in my garage to occupy my time with: 1956 Austin healey 100-4 BN2, needing complete resto.
thanks again for the answers...

Whats wrong with building up the "family" car?

I actually like the idea of a tuned A4 Avant 1.8T or Allroad/A6 2.7T (or Porsche Cayenne Turbo while we're dreamin).
