Default 1.8T or 2.8 30V?

The Search feature wont seem to work properly so...

I'm looking to buy either a 1998-2001 A4 Quattro 2.8 or a 2001 A4 Quattro 1.8T either one looks like it will be super nice. Honestly though would I be dissappointed if I went with the 2.8 with 190HP instead of the 1.8T with 170HP with potential boost gains? I'm so torn between the two please give me some Audi professional opinion! Thanks in advance!

If you like the feeling of being pushed back into your seat and having a grin on your face get the turbo.

Would I not be pushed back in my seat with the 20 extra HP?

I bought a 2.8, but I would've gone with the 1.8T because they have a lot more potential power-wise. I guess it depends on what you're using it for, but if you're putting money into it to make it faster, get a 1.8, but if you're looking for pure dependability, get a 2.8.

i got the 2.8 cuz i love the sound of the 6 and wanted a smooth cruizer. descent power and torque stock.

if u're gonna modify, get a 1.8t.

but if u're gonna just cruizer and want good stock power (mostly just torque), 2.8

I just bought an 01 1.8t - 170 hp. Can be taken up to over 300 easily. Good tuning potential. Both are beautiful cars though

Go with the 1.8t and get it "chipped" by APR, GIAC or Revo. I bilieve their stage 1 upgrades are very similar(plus 45hp and 75tq). I have apr stage1 and the difference is night and day from stock. I'll be going Stage1+ very soon(plus 20hp and 30tq over stage1) for a total of around 235hp and 275tq. To get from stock to stage1+ will run about $1k($500 for ecu flash $3-400 for injectors and $1-200 for labor).

Very nice advice from all of you thank you so much. Still so torn though, I've never had a V6 yet I've never had a turbo either. I would hate to mod the 1.8t and have it blow up on me. 235hp sounds nice though for only 1k any advice from people who have modded the 2.8 for power potential?
